Frequently asked

Common questions, plain answers.

01How often does my AC system need a re-gas?

Most manufacturers recommend a refrigerant service every 2-3 years. If the system is leaking, a re-gas alone is a temporary fix — we'll always pressure-test for leaks first.

02What's the difference between R134a and R1234yf?

R1234yf is the newer refrigerant required on cars from around 2017 onwards because of EU emissions rules. It's not interchangeable with R134a — using the wrong gas damages the system. We have both gas types and the right equipment for both.

03My AC has a strange smell when I turn it on — what causes that?

Usually bacterial or mould growth on the evaporator. We can clean the system and replace the cabin filter, which resolves it in most cases.

04How long does an AC service take?

A standard regas with leak test is about an hour. Repair work depends on which component has failed — most are same-day jobs.
