Specialist · ECU coding & diagnostics

ECU Coding & Advanced Diagnostics.

Module-level work that most local garages send to the main dealer. We clone, program and repair ECUs in-house, code retrofits and replacements to your VIN, and run engine diagnostics that read what the warning light won't tell you.

Frequently asked

Common questions, plain answers.

01What's the difference between cloning and programming an ECU?

Cloning copies an existing ECU's data — including the immobiliser link — into a replacement unit, so the car sees the new ECU as the original. Programming flashes a fresh ECU and codes it to your VIN, which usually means re-pairing keys and immobiliser. Cloning is faster and avoids key issues; programming is the only option when you can't read the original ECU.

02Do I need to take the car to the main dealer for coding work?

Not for the work we cover. We use manufacturer-grade tools (Autel, Pathfinder, Vediamo) for VAG, BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover. The dealer route is usually more expensive and slower; the result is the same.

03Can you diagnose an intermittent fault that only happens occasionally?

Often, yes. We log live-data over a road test and store freeze-frame data, which lets us catch faults that aren't active when the car is on the diagnostic ramp. Some intermittent faults need the car to be left with us for a longer period — we'll tell you upfront if that's the case.

04How much does a diagnostic cost?

Most diagnostics start with a fixed-fee scan and interpretation. If the fix is straightforward, we'll often roll the diagnostic fee into the repair. We give a written quote before any work starts.
